PARIS, Oct 11 — What do Claudia Schiffer and Karl Lagerfeld's cat Choupette have in common? For starters, both are spokesmodels for the new Opel Corsa. While the German supermodel stars in an ad campaign for Opel's new city car, Choupette is the face of the 2015 Opel Corsa Calendar, shot by her famous owner.
Tina Müller, chief marketing officer at Opel, explains the brand's bold choice: “The fifth generation of the Corsa has just been launched. In the last 32 years, it has been photographed with numerous supermodels. There was only one way to beat that in a special way: Choupette.”
Karl Lagerfeld was happy to oblige, heading into a Parisian studio to photograph his feline friend on and inside the new Corsa.
A celebrity in her own right, the Birman cat Choupette Lagerfeld is already the subject of a book, Choupette — the Enchanted Life of a Fashion Cat. She also has over 40,000 followers on Twitter.
This is not the first time a cat has been seen promoting the Opel Corsa: A TV ad for the first generation of the city car starred Tom and Jerry.
The photographs shot by Karl Lagerfeld for the Corsa calendar will be featured in a vernissage at the start of 2015, Opel states in a release.
The latest iteration of the Corsa is the star attraction on the Opel stand at the Paris Motor Show, which takes place through October 19. Among the new features are a multitude of driver assistance systems, including a blind spot detector, sign recognition, sudden lane departure warning, high beam assist, following distance indication and forward collision warning. Opel has announced a starting price of €11,990 (RM48,950) for the Essentia three-door model, and the first models are due to arrive in early 2015. — AFP-Relaxnews
