KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — While urban construction is in full swing everywhere you look in the city, mobile network coverage is fighting hard to keep pace.
Operators have to provide both capacity and high-quality coverage in order to maintain excellent user experience.
To meet this challenge, Ericsson launched the Ericsson Radio System and Ericsson Radio Dot System in Malaysia today.
These solutions are designed to deliver the capacity and quality required from local networks that were originally built and optimised to deliver voice services across a defined coverage area.
Both these Ericsson solutions will allow operators to improve data coverage and capacity for subscribers, resulting in enhanced mobile broadband services.
“Ericsson has been in Malaysia since before mobile networks were introduced and we are proud to have been a driving force in the creation and development of the mobile industry in Malaysia,” said Todd Ashton, head of Ericsson Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
“After 50 years in the country, we continue to address Malaysia’s connectivity and mobile broadband requirements by introducing innovative products and solutions.
“The new modular, compact and energy-efficient Ericsson Radio System is an ideal platform for Ericsson to support the business of operators in Malaysia today, laying the foundation for 5G and the Networked Society.”
While radio network solutions were originally built mainly for voice coverage, they now need to meet the growing capacity demands of applications or apps.
This is especially true of indoor environments where providing coverage has traditionally been challenging due to high costs and limited scalability.
The Ericsson Radio System puts operators on the road to 5G by delivering industry-leading performance while drastically reducing energy requirements, site space and installation time.
Delivering industry-leading performance on the industry’s smallest site footprint with the lowest energy consumption, the Ericsson Radio System supports efficient building practices such as one-bolt installation, enabling fast deployment and reducing time-to-revenue while minimizing operating expenses.
Complementing the launch of the Ericsson Radio System is the Ericsson Radio Dot System. It is a solution for in-building environments that present a special set of challenges for operators.
