PETALING JAYA, May 8 — Malaysian magician Andrew Lee not only wowed audiences on Britain’s Got Talent, but received four votes and a standing ovation from the judges for his daring knife-throwing card trick.

His performance earned glowing praises from the show’s celebrity judges: reality television producer Simon Cowell, singer-actress Amanda Holden, comedian David Walliams and singer-model Alesha Dixon.

The episode aired in Malaysia on Sunday night on AXN, the same day as the United Kingdom.

“I’m sure many of you have seen a card trick but tonight I’m going to add my twist to this by adding a sense of danger,” he said, before inviting hosts Ant and Dec on stage to assist him.

Lee asked Dec to pick a card while he shuffled a deck and marked the card by tearing off a corner.

Lee then passed the deck of cards to Ant, put a dartboard over his torso and revealed the element of danger — a knife. He instructed Ant to toss the deck of cards into the air.

Blindfoldeded with an eye mask, Lee then threw the knife at the dartboard, skillfully pinning Dec’s chosen card.

Cowell, who is known for his sarcastic critiques, said: “That was one of the most amazing things I’ve seen on this show.”

Malaysian audiences might recognise Lee from season two of Asia’s Got Talent, where he first performed the trick and made it to the semi-finals.
