LOS ANGELES, Jan 26 — As corporate drama Billions enters its third season, the Emmy award-winning actor John Malkovich is set to join the cast as a Russian businessman.

John Malkovich is to play Grigor Andolov, a Russian billionaire, as a guest on season three of Billions.

David Levien and Brian Koppelman, the show’s creators, approached him having previously worked with Malkovich in 1998 crime drama film Rounders as well as 2001’s lesser-known Knockaround Guys.

“We are ecstatic to be reunited with the man who played Teddy KGB once again,” they said, referencing the Russian gangster that Malkovich became for that 1998 movie about high-stakes poker.

As for Billions, it follows the rivalry of high-rolling, eternally ambitious hedge fund investor Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and US Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) who is investigating Axelrod for financial crimes.

Inspired by real-life events, the well-received show ensures a combustible blend of personal and professional tension, with Rhoades’ doctor wife Wendy a performance coach at Axelrod’s firm, while the couple continue to negotiate a difficult period in their marriage.

Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashād, and Toby Leonard Moore return as members of the supporting cast.

Having debuted in January 2016, Billions returns to Showtime for a third season starting March 25, 2018. — AFP-Relaxnews
