LOS ANGELES, June 23 — Mando is the latest in a flurry of casting announcements for the July 2017 superhero feature, which entered principal photography on June 20th, 2016.
Earlier this week, the US comedian, Broad City and Lucas Bros. Moving Co. actor Hannibal Buress joined the cast, as did youthful rising star Abraham Attah, who starred opposite Idris Elba in awards season contender Beasts of No Nation.
The clutch of additions arrive after Disney star Zendaya was cast in March 2016.
All this follows the suggestions made by some Spider-Man and film fans, saying that Spider-Man: Homecoming could or should turn to an established, alternative version of the webslinging hero for a change.
Miles Morales was the fictional character introduced in 2011 as a Black Hispanic teenager who took on the mantle of Spider-Man.
Though Marvel and Sony ultimately went with the more traditional Peter Parker character — played by Tom Holland of Studio Ghibli’s Arriety as well as the Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts tsunami drama The Impossible — recent announcements indicate the studio is taking steps to increase the on-screen diversity of July 17th’s cinematic outing. — AFP-Relaxnews
