KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — The 28th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM28) yesterday opens its call for entries for the upcoming film festival.

Starting from today onwards, interested filmmakers will be able to submit their works to compete in the five categories: animated feature films, animated short films, feature films, short films and documentaries.

Previously, nominees for the categories have often been chosen internally without any submission from the public.

Looks like FFM 28 will be presenting a difference this year, assuming a more active role in aiding the local film industry.

FFM 28 has yet to set a date and venue. Often held in the third or fourth quarter of the year, it is expected that FFM 28 too, like previous FFMs, will be held in the same time frame this year.

Closing date for the submissions is on May 31, 2016. — Cinema Online
