KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — HBO Asia’s long-awaited original series “Halfworlds”, starring Malaysian Bront Palarae, will make its debut across Asia on the HBO channel on Sunday, November 29.

Palarae, in the dark thriller directed by Joko Anwar, stars alongside an ensemble cast of leading Indonesian actors. Among them are Arifin Putra, Aimee Saras, Adinia Wirasti, Tara Basro, Alex Abbad, Ario Bayu and Verdi Solaiman.

The eight-episode series will premiere new episodes weekly.

In another first, HBO Asia will release selected content of “Halfworlds” on Facebook immediately after its HBO premiere. This includes its first episode.

“Halfworlds” is the fourth original production of HBO Asia after “Dead Mine” (2012), “Serangoon Road” (2013) and “Grace” (2014).

The series will also star Indonesian Salvita Decorte in her breakout role, Reza Rahadian, Hannah Al-Rashid, Singaporean Nathan Hartono. Eight-year-old Malaysian Puteri Balqis will appear as a guest star in the series.

“Halfworlds” reveals a hidden universe in present-day Jakarta where supernatural creatures from Indonesian mythology have lived among us for centuries.
