NEW YORK, May 6 — The British actress is the latest addition to the star-studded cast of this man vs. nature drama.
Robin Wright, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Watson, John Hawkes, Jason Clarke and Naoko Mori are all taking part in the feature, which revisits a real-life tragedy that took place in 1996.
“Everest” recounts the ordeal of several climbing expeditions trapped on the side of the Himalayan peak when it was hit by a violent snowstorm in May 1996. Only eight participants survived the disaster, with the blame for the other deaths falling upon local authorities.
A member of the film’s ensemble cast, Keira Knightley will portray Jan Arnold, the wife of the Kiwi climber Rob Hall (Jason Clarke). Since her character is not a member of a mountain expedition, the actress will not be required to join the rest of the cast on location in Nepal and the Italian Alps. Her scenes will be shot instead at Pinewood Studios just outside of London.
“Everest” will arrive in theaters in the US and Canada on September 18, 2015 under the banner of Universal Pictures. — AFP-Relaxnews
