KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — Bursa Malaysia was higher at mid-afternoon today on buying demand in selected heavyweights especially trade/services counters, dealers said.
At 3.05pm, the barometer index stood at 1,659.42, up 11.80 points from yesterday’s close of 1,647.62.
The index opened 4.75 points higher at 1,652.37 this morning.
Market breadth was positive with gainers leading losers by 603 to 180, with 275 counters unchanged, 630 untraded and 24 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.12 billion shares worth RM1.02 billion.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank increased 13 sen to RM8.00, Public Bank added 10 sen to RM19.78, Petronas Chemicals fell one sen to RM6.90, Sime Darby rose five sen to RM8.25 and IHH Healthcare gained four sen to RM6.39.
Axiata earned eight sen to RM4.78 and Genting soared 13 sen to RM7.93.
Among actives, Vivocom and TA Global each inched up one sen to 18 sen and 26 sen respectively, RGB gained half-a-sen to 23.5 sen while Perisai Petroleum was flat at 4.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index added 92.09 points to 11,668.35, the FBMT100 Index gained 86.85 points to 11,379.63 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 72.65 points higher at 12,227.58.
The FBM Ace increased 77.90 points to 4,989.26 and the FBM 70 surged 124.86 points to 13,515.66.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index appreciated 176.47 points to 14,512.46, the Plantation Index widened 57.40 points to 7,763.46 but the Industrial Index was 0.96 point better at 3,137.70. — Bernama
