KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Bursa Malaysia was marginally lower at mid-afternoon with the onset of profit-taking in selected heavyweights and in line with most regional peers, dealers said.

At 3.10pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,665.89, down 0.84 of-a-point against yesterday’s close of 1,666.73.

The index opened 2.21 points higher at 1,668.94 this morning.

Losers trounced gainers 399 to 258, while 386 counters were unchanged, 616 untraded and 133 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 873.61 million shares worth RM857.37 million.

For the heavyweights, Tenaga was flat at RM14.36, Public Bank eased six sen to RM19.90, Maybank fell one sen to RM7.69 and IHH Healthcare dipped two sen to RM6.53.

Among actives, Perak Transit shed one sen to 20 sen while Perisai Petroleum Teknologi and Red Sena rose half-a-sen each to eight sen and 42 sen, respectively.

The FBM Emas Index lost 13.74 points to 11,759.25, the FBMT100 Index fell 14.00 points to 11,463.46, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slid 6.47 points to 12,406.29.

The FBM 70 was down 46.29 points to 13,758.26 and the FBM Ace was 13.43 points lower at 5,148.70.

On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index was 5.27 points weaker at 3,119.85, the Finance Index declined 13.61 points to 14,298.83 but the Plantation Index rose 16.50 points to 7,867.73. — Bernama
