KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained weak at mid-morning today as the local bourse continued to consolidate, dealers said.
At 11.04am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,682.36, down 0.71 of a point against yesterday’s close of 1,683.07.
It opened 2.90 points weaker at 1,680.17.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index declined 19.1 points to 11,797.57, the FBMT100 Index eased 17.22 points to 11,508.53 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index was 4.59 points lower at 12,439.16.
The FBM Ace fell 18.31 points to 5,416.12 and the FBM 70 shed 65.36 points to 13,565.18.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index shrank 43.52 points to 14,454.07 and the Plantation Index was 17.54 points lower at 7,828.54, while the Industrial Index improved 3.55 points to 3,149.04.
Losers outpaced gainers 364 to 212, while 321 counters were unchanged, 791 untraded and 17 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 692.04 million shares worth RM423.87 million.
Of the heavyweights, TNB lost two sen to RM14.80, Public Bank shed four sen to RM19.76 and Maybank and IHH eased one sen each to RM7.99 and RM6.67 respectively.
Petronas Chemicals added two sen to RM6.68.
Among actives, AirAsia X lost four sen to 42 sen, M3 Technologies eased one sen to 8.5 sen, Vivocom slipped half a sen to 29 sen and AirAsia shed 19 sen to RM3.03.
Iris was flat at 17.5 sen. — Bernama
