KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 ― The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened lower today on selling in heavyweight stocks, dealers said.

At 9.06am, the FBM KLCI was 0.68 of-a-point easier at 1,685.70, against yesterday's close of 1,686.35.

Gainers outpaced losers 216 to 176 with 1,399 counters unchanged.

Turnover stood at 318.76 million shares worth RM157.04 million.              

Rubber-related stocks were among the top gainers as Kossan rose 27 sen to RM6.47 and Top Glove gained 11 sen to RM5.26, while Karex added 12 sen to RM3.97.

Among the actives, AirAsia X rose half-a-sen to 30.5 sen, AirAsia advanced one sen to RM1.74, while Chin Cin also gained one sen to 81.5 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index fell 4.41 points to 11,656.77 and the FBMT100 Index slid 6.07 points to 11,368.34.But, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 9.02 points to 12,354.19.

The FBM 70 gained 4.13 points to 12,833.02 and the FBM Ace improved 34.16 points to 5,624.90.

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index was 54.68 points higher at 7,908.69, the Industrial Index was down 14.31 points to 3,273.23 and the Finance Index contracted 20.60 points to 14,263.62. ― Bernama
