KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-afternoon today, weighed down by losses in index-linked heavyweights amid cautious trading.

At 3.00pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.58 points lower at 1,646.07.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank slid two sen to RM8.39, Tenaga shed four sen to RM13.18, Axiata eased one sen to RM6.05 while Public Bank and Petronas Chemicals were both flat at RM18.24 and RM6.68 respectively.

Among actives, Red Sena warrants gained 1.5 sen to 9.5 sen, Red Sena added two sen to 39.5 sen, Eden Inc gained half-a-sen to 26 sen and Genetec Technology shed half-a-sen to 28 sen.

Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 422 to 254, with 352 counters unchanged, 744 untraded and 29 others suspended.   

Turnover stood at 915.48 million shares worth RM848.78 million.

The FBM Emas Index was 25.90 points lower at 11,485.62, the FBMT100 Index fell 24.93 points to 11,162.49, and the FBM Emas Syariah dropped 45.64 points to 12,354.27.The FBM 70 declined 55.69 points to 12,805.68, but the FBM Ace gained 15.14 points to 6,435.91.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index reduced 21.67 points to 14,086.08, the Industrial Index increased 5.27 points to 3,202.01 and the Plantation Index added 3.73 points to 7,362.42. — Bernama
