KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended higher today on continued buying momentum in selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 5pm, the key index stood at 1,672.00, up 4.13 points, after moving between 1,668.59 and 1,675.96 points through the day.
Top Glove and Kuala Lumpur-Kepong were the top gainer stocks, rising 68 sen and 40 sen each to RM11 and RM27.74 respectively.
Among heavyweights, Maybank added 4 sen to RM8.41 and TNB and Public Bank rose 6 sen each to RM13.46 and RM18.34 respectively. Petronas Chemicals slipped 3 sen to RM6.72.
Of the actives, XOX declined 1 sen to 20.5 sen while Instacom, RGB International and Genetec Tech perked 1.5 sen each to 28 sen, 18 sen and 30.5 sen respectively.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 193.67 points to 19,698.15, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 32.67 points to 22,203.22 and Singapore’s Straits Times appreciated 24.83 points to 2,903.88.
Back home, market breadth was positive, with gainers leading decliners by 460 to
359 while 353 counters were unchanged, 596 untraded and 23 others suspended.
Total volume increased to 1.79 billion shares worth RM1.74 billion from Friday’s 1.57 billion shares worth RM1.60 billion.
The FBM Emas Index rose 44.94 points to 11,655.89, FBMT100 Index surged 43.82 points to 11,337.08 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was up 49.82 points to 12,573.54. The FBM Ace added 18.51 points to 6,423.07 and the FBM 70 jumped 108.7 points to 13,001.18.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index was 4.99 points better at 3,278.16, Finance Index gained 59.56 points to 14,149.89 and the Plantation Index rose 28.07 points to 7,458.45.
Main Market volume fell to 1.08 billion units worth RM1.60 billion from 907.85 million units worth RM1.45 billion on Friday.
Turnover on the ACE Market advanced to 609.06 million shares valued at RM123.61 million from Friday’s 526.69 million shares valued at RM124.82 million.
Warrants slipped to 103.16 million units worth RM13.47 million from 136.96 million units worth RM23.03 million on Friday.
Consumer products accounted for 95.67 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (292.65 million), construction (48.25 million), trade and services (432.83 million), technology (82.91 million), infrastructure (19.98 million), SPAC (5.44 million), finance (28.96 million), hotels (614,100), properties (52.18 million), plantations (12.14 million), mining (35,000), REITs (3.90 million) and closed/fund (nil). — Bernama
