KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — The FBM KLCI remained higher at mid-afternoon today on continued buying momentum in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

At 3.01 pm, the benchmark index was 5.80 points higher at 1,673.67.

For heavyweights, Maybank added three sen to RM8.40, TNB advanced 10 sen to RM13.50, Public Bank gained six sen to RM18.34, while Petronas Chemicals shed two sen to RM6.73.

Of the actives, 1Utopia was flat at 4.5 sen, Genetec and Instacom rose 1.5 sen each to 30.5 sen and 28 sen, respectively, while XOX improved one sen to 22.5 sen.

On the broader market, gainers led losers by 402 to 334, while 343 counters were unchanged, 689 untraded and 23 others suspended.

Turnover was at 1.13 billion shares worth RM900.09 million.

The FBM Emas Index was 51.74 points better at 11,662.69, the FBMT100 Index increased 50.45 points to 11,343.71 and the FBM Emas Syariah went up 57.91 points to 12,581.63.

The FBM Ace perked 3.73 points at 6,408.29 and the FBM 70 climbed 98.56 points to 12,991.57.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index garnered 56.67 points to 14,147, the Industrial Index benefited 10.95 points to 3,284.12 and the Plantation Index appreciated 27.17 points to 7,457.55. — Bernama
