SEBERANG PERAI, Oct 30 — Homegrown electrical home appliances manufacturer, Pensonic Holdings Berhad, opened its new RM50 million headquarters in Bukit Minyak today on the back of a modest growth in its revenue.
The company, founded in Balik Pulau 50 years ago, recorded a revenue of RM386 million and RM17 million profit margin for the fiscal year ending May 31.
Pensonic Group Chief Executive Officer Dixon Chew said the new headquarters built on six acres of land will house multi-use spaces and facilities, and infrastructure equipped with research and development laboratories.
He said the new building will also function as their Global Operations Hub to present a strong presence in the ASEAN and Middle East Markets.
In a press release issued at the opening ceremony, Pensonic said the past few years have been challenging and expects tepid market conditions to continue, but hopes to overcome the challenges through “strong focus on teamwork, continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives”, aside from managing risks to increase operating margins.
Chew noted that the company has moved towards diversifying its products range, with the August launch of its Fonebud Essential Plus smartphone accessory under its Fonebud range.
“We will be releasing more products soon under the Fonebud range,” he said.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who officiated the opening of the new headquarters, said the opening of the new building shows that the manufacturing sector in Penang is still strong.
“There has been misleading and untrue press reports of investors and factories fleeing Penang or closing down but this is not true,” he said.
Lim pointed out again that investment in Penang has remained strong with a record RM48.2 billion investment recorded between 2008 and 2014.
He also congratulated Pensonic for a rapid growth of 207 per cent through export sales between 2011 and 2014.
