KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia were in the red this morning, dragged down by losses across-the-board as weak buying sentiment persisted.

As at 9.26 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 7.83 points easier at 1,756.24, after opening 5.72 lower at 1,758.35.

Losers outpaced gainers 273 to 107 with 171 counters unchanged, 1,276 untraded and 25 others were suspended.

Turnover amounted to 263.84 million shares worth RM116.7 million.

Leading the top losers’ list, Dutch Lady lost RM1.82 to RM44.98, Malaysia Airports shed 18 sen to RM6.46, Nationwide Express erased 9.5 sen to 83 sen while MISC and Felda Global Ventures eased 9.0 sen each to RM8.31 and RM1.92, respectively.

Among key heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank declined 4.0 sen each to RM9.11 and RM18.96, respectively, Tenaga erased 8.0 sen to RM13.22 and Axiata was flat at RM6.60.

Xinghe and Kanger, the two most actively traded counters, were flat at 7.0 sen and 16 sen, respectively, while Sumatec added 1.5 sen to 20.5 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index fell 46.29 points to 12,153.7, the FBMT100 Index decreased 47.67 points to 11,833.59 and the FBM 70 dwindled 34.14 points to 13,299.12.

The FBM Emas Syariah Index lost 52.18 points to 12,620.21 points and the FBM Ace inched down 13.19 points to 6,698.22 points.

On a sectoral basis, the Plantation Index slipped 41.92 points to 7,364.81 points, the Finance Index lost 37.34 points to 15,691.74 points and the Industrial Index decreased 15.38 points to 3,189.49 points. — Bernama
