KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-morning today in line with regional markets and as Wall Street staged an overnight decline, dealers said.
At 11.10 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,849.88, up 3.54 points, after opening weaker at 1,844.56.
However, market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 295 to 269, while 345 counters were unchanged, 714 others untraded and 34 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.05 billion shares worth RM614.88 million.
Top gainers were Dutch Lady Milk and United Plantations which rose 60 sen each to RM47.00 and RM26.70 respectively, while Nestle advanced 50 sen to RM66.90.
For the heavyweights, Maybank added eight sen to RM9.97, Public Bank rose two sen to RM18.92 and Tenaga Nasional increased eight sen to RM12.36.
Among actives, Malayan United Industries added half-a-sen to 33 sen, while Asia Bioenergy was flat at 19 sen and Sumatec gained one sen to 42 sen.
On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index fell 1.85 points to 8,395.95, the Industrial Index gained 3.59 points to 3,213.17 and the Finance Index rose 11.84 points to 17,276.39.
The FBM Emas Index edged up 12.399 points to 12,940.22, the FBMT100 Index improved 12.8 points to 12,521.06, the FBM Ace rose 30.46 points to 7,320.5 and the FBM 70 fell 27.59 points to 14,286.97. ― Bernama
