District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the trio, aged 22, 26 and 31, were arrested at the home of one suspect at Kampung Chawi in Jejawi here on Feb 20.

“Three of them were part of a five-member group, but two of their members were arrested last year and have been sentenced to imprisonment,” he said.

“The market price of each pesticide ranges between RM85 and RM129, but the suspects would sell to the buyers at half the market price,” he said.

The trio are remanded until tomorrow.

“The buyers were released a day after their arrests as they will be prosecution witnesses,” said Mohamad Zainal.

He also urged farmers not to buy pesticides that are sold at dirt cheap prices.

“It is an offence to buy stolen items,” he warned.
