TAWAU, Jan 8 — A nine-year-old boy who was reportedly missing from his house in Lorong Saddani 6, 2nd Mile of Jalan Apas here two days ago, was found dead today.

Tawau district police chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the body of Muhammad Azizan Rosli was discovered by a search and rescue (SAR) team in a river behind the victim’s house at about 11.31am.

“The body was found stuck in between tree branches in the river. Initial checks revealed that there were no physical injuries,” he said in a statement here today.

Fadil said the body was taken to the Tawau Hospital for post mortem, while the case was classified as sudden death.

Last Saturday, the victim’s father, Rosli Gani, 57, lodged a missing person report after his wife realised that their son went missing after she came home from a mosque about 4.30 pm.

Among others, joining the SAR operations were the Tawau Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force. — Bernama
