KUALA LUMPUR, June 17— Police have confirmed that T. Nhaveen, who died after being mercilessly assaulted by a group of teenagers, had succumbed from heavy blows to his head.

The Star quoted Penang deputy police chief, DCP Datuk Roslee Chik saying that the cause of Nhaveen’s death was because of blunt force trauma to his head.

“As far as we are concerned, the investigation is complete. We now await confirmation from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, to charge the suspects with murder,” he was quoted saying.

The daily quoted another police official, George Town police chief, ACP Anuar Omar saying on Tuesday, that Nhaveen had undergone treatment for a growth in the brain condition, some time ago.

It reported a relative of the 18-year-old saying that Nhaveen had also been on medication for epilepsy.

Nhaveen was heading to a burger stall with his friend last weekend before he was attacked by his former school bullies with helmets and sticks, leaving him clinically brain dead, and succumbing to his injuries without regaining consciousness, two days ago.

He was also sodomised with an object, and had burn marks on his backs.

He was cremated yesterday.

Five boys aged between 16 and 18 have since been remanded and the case is now being investigated under the Penal Code for murder.

Murder, which falls under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
