KOTA BHARU, Nov 9 — The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will send its members identified as hardcore drug addicts to drug rehabilitation centre as the last resort to rehabilitate them.

PDRM Department of Integrity and Standards Compliance director Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the move followed the mutual agreement signed with the National Anti-Drug Agency and the process of identifying the members involved was currently underway.

"We expect to start sending them to the rehabilitation centre in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, as early as December, and they will have to undergo the rehabilitation process for three months," he told reporters after the handing over of Integrity and Code of Ethics book to Kota

Jalaluddin said 883 policemen were identified to have been involved in drug addiction over the past three years and had been sent to undergo rehabilitation under the police's various methods.  — Bernama
