KUALA NERANG, March 27 — The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address cases of indiscipline among school students such as bullying is expected to be ready in two weeks.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said a special meeting on the SOP would be held soon involving himself, the director-general of Education and ministry officials.
“The SOP will contain the terms, limitation of the school authorities and the District Education Office (PPD) to address indiscipline, including bullying,” he told reporters after opening the annual general meeting of the SMK Dato Syed Ahmad Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), here, today.
Yesterday, Mahdzir said the SOP on the delegation of power to the PPD and State Education Department was being discussed to address bullying.
With the SOP, the school authorities need not wait for the intervention of the Education Ministry to resolve indiscipline cases such as bullying.
This followed the case of an eight-year-old pupil in Klang, Selangor, who was allegedly forced to snip off the tip of his tongue by five other pupils last week, if he did not want them to punch him in the face. — Bernama
