KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — Controversial claims of a high-level conspiracy in the death of Anthony Kevin Morais has renewed interest in the deputy public prosecutor’s murder on Twitter, with the topic now the second-most discussed by Malaysian users.

Interest began accelerating since Charles Suresh Morais made such claims yesterday in the form of an 18-page statutory declaration that he distributed to the media during a press conference.

Some users shared snippets of reports on the topic while others expressed particular eagerness to learn details of the case Charles Suresh claimed his brother had been investigating prior to his murder.

“So apparently Kevin Morais was probing a massive bribery involving government leaders,” tweeted user @vivekdhillion.

“Wow! Startling revelations about Kevin Morais's murder! This is gonna b jolly interesting!” tweeted user @monkeyvirgo.

The younger Morais claimed yesterday that he was in possession of a pendrive with proof that was passed to him by his brother who he said “knew too much”.

Kevin Morais’ body was found hidden in a cement-filled oil drum in Subang Jaya 13 days after he was abducted en route to his Putrajaya office from his Segambut home on September 4.

It was quickly followed by speculation that Kevin Morais’ death was possibly linked to investigations into state-owned investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

Authorities later announced that the murder was a revenge killing and has since apprehended and charged several individuals including a pathologist that the DPP had been prosecuting prior to his death.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had then denied the DPP’s involvement in the case, and did so again today when he added that Charles Suresh’s claim may constitute interference in his brother’s murder trial.
