TEMERLOH, March 21 — Cuepacs wants the government to expedite review of the 252 salary schemes in the civil service to reduce the burden of civil servants in the current volatile economic situation.

Its president Datuk Azih Muda said the issue of review of allowances and salaries of civil servants had been delayed 15 years although it should be done every five years.

“Cuepacs asks that the allowances and salaries be raised up to 35 per cent and based on our initial discussions before this, the government had agreed to do a review every five years.

“This is to ensure civil servants in the lower income group do not go below the poverty line,” he said at a ceremony to hand over aid to 430 flood victims in Pahang, here today.

Also present was Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) president, Datuk Abdul Fatah Abdullah. — Bernama
