KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 ― In an exclusive interview, a 47-year-old victim revealed to Malay Mail her disturbing affair with the 53-year-old man.
She spoke about the 10 months of “torture”, blackmail and lies she had to endure.
“My friends introduced me to the Tagged social network site in April 2014, as I was looking for a partner. He was known as Rye on his profile page. He messaged me first, wanting to know me.
I was not interested and didn’t reply his message as I was not keen in his profile description or picture. However, he was persistent in getting to know me.
He did not give up and I only started chatting with him when he sent me a picture looking sick from a hospital. He wrote, I’m going to die, is it wrong to make some friends before that?” Out of pity I started chatting with him and agreed to meet after one week.
He came all the way from Penang and we met at an open restaurant in KL. He brought me mangoes and insisted I tried it. While I was ordering my food he suddenly stood up and kissed my forehead murmuring something. I couldn’t wait to finish my lunch with him as I felt that something was not right.
I also couldn’t look at him eye-to-eye as I found him unattractive.
However, right after lunch I lost control and felt I was in a coma. It’s like you know what is happening but can’t do anything about it.
He asked me to follow him to a hotel in KL since he was tired of travelling. I declined but ended up with him in a hotel.
As soon as we checked in, we had sex. After that our relationship was all about him using sympathy to get money from me.
There were days when he said he was very ill or needed money for business. In total, I gave him RM4,000.
I suspect he cast a spell on me. When we first started chatting on Tagged, he kept insisting for my current picture. He also brought a mango and forced me to eat it.
Whenever we met, he would insist on cooking for me and say a prayer over the food before passing it to me.
After three to four months when I no longer gave in, he started blackmailing me claiming that he had a sex video of me in the nude.
I continued my relationship with him even after that as I suspected that there were more victims.
When I learned he had cheated more than 200 women, I knew it was time for me to take the risk and leave.
He tried contacting me but I didn’t respond. He eventually stopped.
I did some special prayer sessions and I felt better after that.
Manipulative text message: “I’m already falling in love with you although we’ve not met yet.”
Another trickster message: “I’m going to die soon. Doctors say I will not live for long. Can you be my friend?”
