KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — The RM18-million rectification work on four hill slopes in Jalan Ampang and Jalan Bukit Nanas was fully completed on January 7, almost two months earlier than expected.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the work was initially expected to be completed on February 27.

A landslide occurred in Bukit Nanas forest reserve on May 7 last year, affecting the four hill slopes, two each in Jalan Ampang and Jalan Bukit Nanas.

Tengku Adnan said during the reconstruction work, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the contractors involved had also stumbled upon an old tunnel, believed to have existed since the civil war between Raja Mahadi and Tengku Kudin.

The DBKL and the Peninsula Malaysia Forestry Department had agreed to preserve the tunnel as a tourist attraction, he told reporters when announcing the completion of the rectification work on the hill slopes here today.

Tengku Adnan also launched the opening of the Kuala Lumpur Eco Forest Park and Bukit Nanas Waterfalls as the city’s new tourist destinations. — Bernama
