KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) will reveal the alleged vote-rigging that occurred in Election 2013 during parliamentary debates, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today despite the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s call this morning that all parties accept the polls result.
The opposition leader acknowledged Tuanku Abdul Halim Muad’zam Shah’s advice but suggested that it may not have come from the King himself as it was ‘standard practice’ for the Ruler’s parliamentary address to be written by the government.
“We will debate it so that the Agong knows about the fraud in the general election,” Anwar (picture) told reporters after the King’s address in Parliament.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong called on everyone today to “accept and respect” the results of Election 2013 and to work together to enable the country to achieve developed status by 2020.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said separately today that the “Agong’s speech is a word from the government”.
“The Agong speaks on the advice of the prime minister,” Wan Junaidi told reporters at Parliament House today. “But the Agong himself has a life of his own.”
PR has organised several rallies throughout the country recently, dubbed Black 505, to protest against alleged electoral fraud in the recent May 5 polls.
The opposition pact has also filed election petitions in 24 federal seats, while commissions of inquiry in PR states Penang, Selangor and Kelantan will be held to investigate reports of electoral fraud in the 13th general election.
PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli said today that accepting the results of Election 2013 did not mean closing the “chapter on electoral fraud”.
“There are petitions going on, issues on EC’s incompetence, rampant vote-buying,” Rafizi told reporters at the Parliament House separately.
“These issues are not just about the last general election,” added the Pandan MP, stressing that it was crucial to ensure that the “next election will not be marred.”
