NEW YORK, May 2 — If fried ice cream is your thing, this recipe is going to take that favourite dish of yours to a whole new level.
In this clip from YouTube channel Tastemade, food enthusiast Julie Nolke will show you to make fried root beer float.
For the batter, you’ll need these ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 root beer bottle, salt and vegetable oil for frying.
For the filling, you’ll need: White bread with the crusts cut off and vanilla ice cream.
Mix the flour, salt and root beer in a large bowl. Do note that the batter should be thin and lumpy. Set aside for 15 minutes.
Make balls of ice cream using a large ice cream scoop. Place them on a baking sheet and return to freezer for 10 minutes. Using a rolling pin, roll out the bread slices. Use the bread slices as a shell around the ice cream, using 2 pieces to form a cover over the ice cream ball entirely. Return to the freezer for another 10 minutes.
Dip the rolled bread and ice cream balls in the root beer batter and fry until golden. Place on paper towel to remove extra oil. Enjoy immediately!
