KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 ― The ultimate Malaysian drink has definitely got to be teh tarik!

Teh tarik, literally meaning “pulled tea,” is actually an Indian method of making milk tea that has become a must-have for most Malaysians and tourists visiting the country.

This simple combination of powdered black tea and condensed milk has its flavours elevated to unimaginable levels because of the tea-making method.

This involves pouring the tea back and forth repeatedly between two separate vessels from a height. As a result, air is introduced into the mixture, producing a foamy layer of air bubbles at the top of the drink.

This not only cools the hot tea to optimal drinking temperature, it also gives the tea a more delicate texture, and as with most interaction between liquid consumables (such as wine) and air, it brings out more flavour.

The black tea and condensed milk mixture is able to mix thoroughly, giving it an overall improved flavour that is just irresistible.

The average tea drinker might not notice the difference between normal milk tea and teh tarik, but we passionate tea drinkers can definitely do so at the very first sip!
