KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Naza-Kia has taken the wraps off its latest Picanto supermini to reveal a stylish, affordable and — most importantly after the fuel price hike — efficient update to its A-segment favourite.

Featuring a 1.2L engine with a lively 87PS (available in both four-speed automatic and five-speed manual variants), the Picanto will have something to offer buyers looking to get into their first car or just to beat their growing fuel bills.

The Picanto also shows that good things can come in small packages. It comes equipped with “premium features” typically found on luxury cars — keyless entry-and-start, a six-speaker sound system, six airbags, along with a plethora of active and safety systems, among many others.

The new Picanto’s overall neater and cleaner packaging reflects the trademark of European designer Peter Schreyer, who now holds the design reins for Kia.

Longer and larger than its predecessor, the new Picanto promises more passenger comfort as well as a 25 per cent increase in cargo space – ample room to store change of clothes, spare shoes and other necessities that will take one straight from the office to the gym, and then out for dinner with friends.

Announced earlier this motnh, prices for the new Picanto are yet to be confirmed, but Naza-Kia expect this to be competitively-priced against other contenders in the segment.
