JERUSALEM, July 26 — An Air Canada flight bound for Tel Aviv circled above the Ben Gurion International Airport before landing yesterday after three rockets were fired at the airport.
The Israeli army confirmed that three missiles were fired at the international airport from Gaza at around 11.45am. All were shot down by Iron Dome defence system.
Local air traffic controllers advised the AC84 flight from Toronto to perform a standard go-around while it was eight kilometres from Tel Aviv.
The plane landed at Ben Gurion airport 10 minutes later at 12.07pm after Israeli Air Traffic Control confirmed that conditions were safe for landing.
A two-day ban restricting flights to Tel Aviv was placed on Tuesday after a rocket landed less than two kilometres from the international airport. Most US and European airlines have resumed flights after the US Federal Aviation Administration lifted the ban. Air Canada plans to continue to fly to Israel. — Reuters
