PARIS, July 1 — How would you like to spend the night inside the Eiffel Tower?
A family from England got to do just that.
Michelle Stevenson was one of the lucky winners of a contest organized by the vacation rental website HomeAway.
The contest asked the question — “What would you do if the HomeAway Eiffel Tower apartment was all yours for a night?”
Stevenson, who is the mother of two autistic sons, answered that it was a dream for her boys, who love light displays, to see the bright lights of Paris.
“It was for them really because they’re fascinated by the Eiffel Tower, the structure and the lights. Being autistic, I think the lights is just the big ‘wow’ factor for them. So yeah, it’s just something that they’ll never do again, it was once in a lifetime thing that they’ll be able to do all of this. So it was purely for them that we entered and we won.”
Stevenson won an exclusive night with her family inside the newly-constructed, furnished, first-floor, two-bedroom luxury apartment that also has, of course, stunning city views.
Baily, Michelle Stevenson’s 9-year-old son, says, “It’s a really good thing. It feels nice, I’m comfortable, I’m settled. it’s just good.”
During their stay, the family went on a private tour of the tower - including the parts not open to the public.
And for a magical ending to their adventure in the City of Lights, organisers even arranged for the boys to believe they lit up the Eiffel Tower with the press of a button. — Reuters
