KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — After a long hiatus, Nokia is making a splash in the telco world again by rolling out three Android-powered smartphones, namely the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, together with the rebirth of the iconic Nokia 3310.
Unveiled earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the smartphones combine superior craftsmanship, distinctive design and powerful entertainment features with a pure Android experience.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Nokia smartphones as we reintroduce this much-loved and trusted brand to the Malaysian consumers,” said HMD Global country manager for Malaysia and Myanmar Vijay Thangavelu.
“We are committed to draw on the hallmarks of Nokia’s phone heritage of quality, simplicity and reliability for an authentic and differentiating experience that will appeal to the new generation of Nokia fans.”
Manufactured by a Finnish startup, HMD Global, the new Nokia series comes in an attractive price range of less than RM1,000, beginning with the entry-level model, Nokia 3. Featuring a machined aluminium frame, it sports a fully laminated 5in HD IPS display screen for superb clarity.
The device is powered by a MediaTek 6737 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a 2GB RAM, and is also equipped with a 16GB internal storage and 8MP front and rear cameras.
Affordably priced at RM599, the Nokia 3 packs a quality smartphone experience into a compact and elegant form. There is a choice between four colours of Matte Black, Silver White, Tempered Blue and Copper White. It comes in an aluminium unibody design along with a larger 5.2in HD IPS display screen and brings a robust structural integrity with the quality of a high-end flagship.
The Nokia 5, on the one hand, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdrago 430 mobile platform and delivers excellent battery life and improved graphics performance. With additional features including a 13MP phase detection auto-focus rear camera and an 8MP wide-angle front camera, the phone perfectly balances everyday usability with top-quality design. It is available in Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black and Copper and retails at RM799.
Meanwhile, the most premium device of the three, the Nokia 6 combines distinctive design with an immersive audio experience not to mention a 5.5in full HD display screen.
Its unibody is crafted from a single block of aluminium, making it perfect for those who seek a vigorous phone with outstanding entertainment credentials. The smart audio amplifier with dual speakers possesses a deep bass and unmatched clarity whilst the Dolby Atmos sound delivers a powerful entertainment experience.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 mobile platform and the Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphics processor, the Nokia 6 strikes a perfect balance between performance and power consumption. Priced at RM999, it is available in Matte Black, Silver, Copper and Tempered Blue.
That’s not all. HMD Global has reintroduced the iconic Nokia 3310, once the leader in the mobile market. Launched 17 years ago, it was one of the most popular mobiles of all time, remembered for its near-indestructible build, long-lasting battery life and legendary Snake game.
The refreshed Nokia 3310 takes the iconic silhouette of the original design but has been reimagined for 2017. It sports a fresh and modern look whilst the 2.4in polarised and curved screen window offers a better readability.
Boasting an incredible 22-hour talk time and month-long standby, the Nokia 3310 encompasses everything you knew and loved in a sleek modern polycarbonate casing.
Available in four colours — Warm Red and yellow (glossy finish), Dark Blue and Grey (matte finish), the Nokia 3310 retails at RM239.
Fans can get their hands on the Nokia 3 from mid-June while the Nokia 5 and 6 will be available in retail stores nationwide at the end of the month.
