SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 8 — A growing number of companies now offer gold plated and jewel-encrusted iPhones, from Goldgenie, to Perla Penna and Goldstriker, but what makes the Brikk Lux iPhone 6 Secure stand out is not the quality of the gold or platinum used on the handsets, nor how much it has been hand polished. Rather it’s the fact that the phone comes with integrated voice-calling encryption.
The technology, provided by Kryptall, means that when an owner makes a call, it completely bypasses the standard telephone network.
Instead, the call is scrambled and passes via a secure wi-fi or 3G data connection through a network of 10 servers, strategically placed in countries where telephone interception and tapping is prohibited by law.
Brikk claims that the secure encryption feature ensures that a private conversation remains private, something that should appeal to government officials and VIPs — the company’s target audience.
However, users can bypass the encryption feature and make voice calls via standard network protocols too when privacy isn’t pressing. And, because the encryption is integrated as a firmware customisation, all of the phone’s other features will work as normal, from iMessage to accessing the App Store.
As for the handset itself, clients can buy a Brikk-customised iPhone 6 or 6 Plus phablet with nothing other than the added encryption for US$4,995 (RM17,460), while 24K gold and 950 platinum-plated editions start from US$9,995.
Those who want something even more noticeable can plump for the diamond-encrusted version (starting at US$13,895). All customised handsets come in a special presentation box complete with certificate of authenticity. — AFP-Relaxnews
