SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — A Selangor football fan was charged in the Magistrate’s Court, here, today with verbally abusing and obstructing police from discharging their duties at Shah Alam Stadium, early this month.

Alfadli Awaludin, 34, better known as ‘Rambo’, however, pleaded not guilty to both charges which were read to him before magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin.

Alfadli, a trader, is alleged to have committed the offences during a Super League match between Selangor and Pahang, in which Pahang won 1-0.

He was charged with voluntarily obstructing a police team led by ASP Mohd Nazri Mohd Ismail from discharging their duties at gate A of Shah Alam Stadium, Section 13, here, about 8.45pm on September 10.

The offence under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or both.

Alfadli was also charged with using abusive words against the police team at the same place and time on the same date, an offence under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, which carries a maximum fine of RM100.

Magistrate Raja Noor Adilla allowed the accused to be freed on bail of RM2,000 in one surety for both charges and set October 13 for case mention.

DPP Ng Wee Li appeared for the prosecution, while Alfadli was represented by counsel Hafiz Razman.

Alfadli, who is also the leader of the ‘Ultras Malaya’ group, had previously been detained by police to assist in the investigation into a rioting incident during a World Cup 2018/Asia Cup 2019 qualifying round match between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia at Shah Alam Stadium in September last year.

With two minutes left, the match was stopped by referee Liu Kwok Man from Hong Kong because of the incident. Saudi Arabia were leading Malaysia 2-1 at the time. — Bernama
