KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — American pop star Bebe Rexha was rushed to hospital after a concertgoer threw his phone onstage, hitting her in the face during a concert last Sunday.

The assault happened as the singer was performing her last song at The Rooftop in Pier 17, New York, with footage taken by audience members going viral.

Rexha was singing midway when a phone was flung through the air, hitting on her face as she dropped to the ground before being escorted off stage.

The police found Nicolas Malavgna, 27, to have ‘intentionally’ thrown his phone and was charged with assault and arrested on the day itself, 23ABC News reported.

According to the police, Rexha was out of the hospital yesterday.

The singer posted an update on social media assuring her fans she is okay, showing off a stitched bruise on her eye.

Rexha’s fellow American pop singers Demi Lovato, Lauren Jauregui, and Hayley Kiyoko among others commented on her post wishing her well and sending their love and support.
