PARIS, May 30 — Ten years after the “Sex and the City” movie opened in the US, May 30, 2008, the Vivienne Westwood fashion house has put on public display the wedding dress created for Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), the star character of the movie based on the TV show of the same name. The original dress is on show in the luxury label’s New York boutique (14 E. 55th Street, New York, 10022) until June 3.

Sex and the City has two anniversaries to celebrate this year. The TV show, which premiered June 1998 on HBO, turns 20 this year, while the movie, released in 2008, is marking its 10th anniversary. In the movie, directed by Michael Patrick King, newspaper columnist and fashionista Carrie Bradshaw prepares to marry her dream man, Mr Big, in a striking Vivienne Westwood gown specially created for the occasion. With Carrie Bradshaw’s outfits providing hotly-watched talking points ever since the show began, the wedding dress inevitably gained legendary status among the show’s fans.

Now, Vivienne Westwood is celebrating Carrie Bradshaw’s big screen appearance in this couture creation by putting the original gown on public display in the label’s New York boutique. This iconic creation, comprising an ivory duchess satin corset and an ivory silk Radzimir taffeta skirt, is on show until June 3.

The “Cloud” wedding dress that featured in the Sex and the City movie was originally part of the Vivienne Westwood Gold Label fall/winter 2007-2008 collection. After being redesigned for the movie character, the dress was delivered to Carrie Bradshaw with a note penned by Vivienne Westwood in person.
