SEOUL, June 29 — He’s a K-pop icon from one of South Korea’s biggest boybands, but now, Big Bang member TOP is making headlines for a very different reason.

The singer facing cameras at a Seoul court on Thursday (June 29) for the first hearing of his drug trial.
“I have made a huge mistake that cannot be undone in any way and I have disappointed many people,” he said. “I am truly ashamed of myself.”
TOP, whose real name is Choi Seung-hyun, was indicted earlier this month on charges of smoking marijuana last October.
Things then took a dark turn when he was found unconscious after an overdose the following day.
Choi has also been suspended from his mandatory military service until the court reaches a verdict.
“I deeply regret my behavior. This kind of thing will never be repeated in the future and I will take all punishment that is handed to me,” said Choi.
That punishment could end up being severe.
If Choi is found guilty, he faces up to five years in jail or a fine of as much as US$45,000 (RM251,531). — Reuters
