LOS ANGELES, March 10 — A short film produced by Madonna in honor of the recent International Women’s Day is making the rounds, with the production described by the pop star as: “a film dedicated to all women who fight for freedom!”
Titled Her-Story, Madonna teamed with photographers Luigi and Iango and Vogue Germany to produce the film, which she revealed to fans via Facebook earlier this week.
The clip begins with a voiceover from the artist where she says: “Welcome to the revolution of love, to our refusal as women to accept this new age of tyranny...Where not just women are in danger, but all marginalised people, where being uniquely different might truly be considered a crime.
“The revolution starts here.”
Built around eight chapters and filmed in black and white, the film depicts Madonna in various scenarios and ends with the message “Women’s rights are human rights”.
Her-Story also features songs from composer David Chalmin, Madonna (Virgin Mary) and Libby Larkin (Billy Goat), who also appears and sings in the film (via Rolling Stone). — AFP-Relaxnews
