LOS ANGELES, Aug 9 — Iconic US animated series The Simpsons is planning its first-ever hour-long episode, with the special edition to be given a hip-hop theme.
Dubbed The Great Phatsby, the episode will pay homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous novel The Great Gatsby, with Empire’s Taraji P. Henson and Key & Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key confirmed to guest star.
Entertainment Weekly (EW) reports that the plot of the episode, which is scheduled to air in January 2017, will centre on the breakdown of a friendship between the merciless tycoon Mr. Burns and an enigmatic hip-hop mogul named Jay G.
Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman went on to tell ET that much of the plot is set at Burns’ summer mansion in the Springfield Hamptons, with Homer serving as the narrator who becomes entangled in the story, similar to Nick Carroway in the book. Part 1 of the episode will be dubbed The Betrayal, with part 2 titled The Revenge. — AFP-Relaxnews
