KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — After five months competing for the 2016 ‘Ikon Siarawan’ Award, Nur Jaziedah Zulkifli, 28, emerged as champion of the programme to take home RM20,000 and a trophy.
The triumph also qualified her to handle a new programme, Interzone, to be aired by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), expected by August at the latest.
Nur Jaziedah, from Segamat, Johor defeated four other finalists after succeeding in winning over the jury with two tasks which were given to her, namely, a special debate and a mysterious talk show at the end of the programme.
Andy Reza Rohadian Khairul Anwar, 23, clinched second place, bringing home RM15,000 and Doria Rachel Jolly, 28, was third, winning RM10,000.
Meanwhile, in the fourth and fifth places were Siti Balqis Elias, 26, and Syafik Shukri Abdul Jalil, 26, who received RM5,000 each.
The prizes were handed over by Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general, Datuk Seri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad.
‘Ikon Siarawan’ is a reality programme broadcast by RTM to find new and competitive talents in the broadcasting world.
All the finalists were fully judged by professional jurors comprising TV hosts Syed Munawar Syed Mustar and Datin Yusanani Ishak; Film, UiTM Theatre and Animation Faculty Dean, Assoc Prof Abdul Razak Mohaideen; actor, Awal Ashaari and RTM News and Current Affairs deputy director, Muis Shafie.
The jurors evaluated based on performance, report, ability and skill in every task given.
The programme which took place at Wisma Radio, Angkasapuri tonight was also broadcast live via RTM TV2. — Bernama
