KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Malaysia will soon have its very own take of the famous American movie, “Fifty Shades of Grey”.

Set to be released this September, “Girlfriend Kontrak” will definitely bring to mind the “Fifty Shades” movie as both share the same ‘contractual relationship’ storyline between a meek girl and a dominant man.

Director Virginia Kennedy revealed that it was indeed inspired by the book to movie adaptation. At the movie’s press conference yesterday, she shared with Cinema Online, “I was in LA at the time and everyone was reading “Fifty Shades of Grey” and so I thought “how would you write something like that but in a milder version?”“

Though the local movie does take a leaf from the erotic romance movie which was banned in Malaysia, it focuses more on the ‘romance’ and none on the ‘erotic’, making this a movie more suitable for all unlike its inspiration.
