LOS ANGELES, June 13 — Following Sarah Jessica Parker’s unexplained departure from the project, Demi Moore has stepped up to the plate to join Andy Tennant’s comedy.

Receiving a multi-million-dollar check by mistake is a little like winning the lottery, although in the former case, cashing in means going on the run from the law.

This is the premise of “Wild Oats,” in which Shirley Maclaine plays a woman who receives a life insurance check with a few too many zeroes. Rather than pointing out the mistake, the character decides to take the road trip of a lifetime with her friend, played by Jessica Lange.

Demi Moore has joined the cast in an unspecified role that was initially to be played by Sarah Jessica Parker. The former “Sex and the City” star’s reason for backing out of the project is unknown.

Lange (“The Vow”) and MacLaine (“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”) will also be joined by Judd Hirsch (“Independence Day”) in this road-trip comedy.

Andy Tennant’s recent films include the romantic comedies “The Bounty Hunter” and “Fool’s Gold.”  — AFP-Relaxnews
