KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — Bursa Malaysia was mixed at mid-afternoon with some mild buying activity seen in trade/services-related and finance-related stocks.

At 3.02pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,852.99, up 0.96 of-a-point, from Wednesday’s close of 1,852.03.

The index opened 3.4 points lower at 1,848.63.

On the broader market, losers led gainers 398 to 302 while 365 counters remained unchanged, 790 untraded and 15 others were suspended.

Volume stood at 1.13 billion units valued at RM1.1 billion.

Among heavyweights, Maybank rose 10 sen to RM10.76, Tenaga added eight sen to RM15.92, Petronas Chemicals gained four sen to RM8.45 while Public Bank was four sen lower at RM23.96.

For actives, Sapura Energy fell 1.5 sen to 69.5 sen, Sumatec and Nexgram eased half-a-sen each to 4.5 sen and six sen, respectively, while Borneo Oil was flat at 8.5 sen.

The FBM Emas Index lost 10.95 points to 12,918.79, the FBMT 100 Index slid 13 points to 12,730.05 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index declined 12.30 points to 13,065.62.

The FBM 70 decreased 83.04 points to 15,296.89 but the FBM Ace rose 4.4 points to 5,263.87.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index eased 6.82 points to 18,175.49, the Industrial Index gave up 13.10 points to 3,196.78 and the Plantation Index trimmed 29.26 points to 7,903.87. — Bernama
