KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 — Bursa Malaysia stayed positive at mid-morning today with the key index extending gains although the overall market breadth turned slightly negative.
At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 9.31 points to 1,863.23, from Friday’s close of 1,853.92. It opened 1.17 points higher at 1,855.09.
Losers led gainers 381 to 359, while 350 counters were unchanged, 775 untraded and 75 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.12 billion shares worth RM649.64 million.
The FBM Emas Index advanced 42.37 points to 13,416.87, the FBMT 100 Index gained 45.21 points to 13,091.93 and the FBM 70 trimmed 10.04 points to 16,733.12.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index expanded 18.81 points to 13,757.26 and the FBM Ace added 5.7 points to 6,679.63.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index soared 170.15 points to 17,841.52, the Industrial Index rose 11.54 points to 3,409.75 and the Plantation Index edged down 0.67 of-a-point to 8,080.54.
Among heavyweights, Maybank jumped 10 sen to RM10.18, TNB went up four sen to RM15.88, Public Bank put on 20 sen to RM21.50, CIMB increased four sen to RM7.10 and Petronas Chemicals fell one sen to RM7.97.
Of the actives, Fintec Global inched up half-a-sen to 16.5 sen, Sumatec and Borneo Oil were flat at 10 sen and 8.5 sen, respectively, while AirAsia X eased 1.5 sen to 42 sen. — Bernama
