KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 — Britain’s upmarket grocery chain Booths will soon be selling its products in Malaysia.

UK daily The Telegraph reported yesterday that the chain, which started at Blackpool some 170 years ago, has opted to venture to Malaysia via joint venture with a Hong Kong-listed retailer Dairy Farm.

The move will see 40 of Booths’ best-selling products such as puddings, jams and chutneys, at 19 shops across the country.

According to the report, the chain, which is based in the north of England, had opted to expand to Malaysia instead of south of England.

British hypermarket chain Tesco has been in Malaysia since 2001.

In the past year, Abu Dhabi-based hypermaket chain Lulu and Japan’s popular convenience store chain FamilyMart also started operations in Malaysia.
