KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened lower today, prompted by the weak performance of Wall Street at last week's closing.
At 9.15am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 9.39 points or 0.56 per cent easier at 1,649.52, after opening 7.60 points lower at 1,651.31.
Decliners outpaced gainers 322 to 117, with 189 counters unchanged, 1,189 untraded and 19 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 228.70 million shares worth RM89.51 million.
On the scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index eased 58.01 points to 11,509.01, the FBMT100 Index declined 55.29 points to 11,183.03, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 54.26 points to 12,409.41.
While the FBM Ace bucked the bearish tone this morning by gaining 9.83 points to 6,405.81, the FBM 70 declined 32.72 points to 12,818.39.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index lost 101.65 points to 13,991.55, the Industrial Index dipped 11.81 points to 3,264.28 and the Plantation Index trimmed 37.61 points to 7,475.21.
Among heavyweights, Malayan Banking was flat at RM8.30, Tenaga fell four sen at RM13.00, and Public Bank declined 24 sen to RM17.78.
Actively traded stocks this morning included RGB International, Instacom and its warrant (B), XOX, Asia Bioenergy and PDZ. ― Bernama
