HONG KONG, Oct 13 — Shares in Hong Kong and Shanghai retreated today after China released data showing imports slumped almost 18 percent in September, while profit-takers also moved in after a recent rally.
In Shanghai, the benchmark composite index fell 0.30 percent, or 10.00 points, to 3,277.66, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, added 0.32 percent, or 5.99 points, to 1,893.27.
And the benchmark Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong fell 0.49 per cent, or 111.10 points, to 22,619.83. — AFP
