KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened lower this morning, prompted by the weak performance on Wall Street.
At 9.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.36 points or 0.13 per cent lower at 1,871.76 at 9.10am, after opening at 1,868.84.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 125 to 101 while 173 counters were unchanged, 1,209 untraded and 19 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 133.50 million shares worth RM55.35 million.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index lost 14.75 points to 13,061.92, the FBMT100 Index declined 15.88 points to 12,640.05 and the FBM Emas Syariah Index trimmed 8.78 points to 13,317.95.
The FBM 70 shed 17.84 points to 14,310.82 but the FBM Ace surged 37.18 points to 7,164.92, while on a sectorial basis, the Industrial Index dipped 0.91 of a point to 3,249.58, the Finance Index declined 28.04 points to 17,529.24 and the Plantation Index trimmed 10.37 points to 8,514.20.
Among heavyweights, KLCC Prop & Reits gained 15 sen to RM6.90, Hong Leong Bank added 14 sen to RM14.78 and British American Tobacco jumped 38 42 sen to RM72.90.
Actively traded stocks this morning included Pasukhas Group, Dutaland, Digistar, Nexgram and Marco Holdings. — Bernama
